You see and know things before they happen and some part of you takes on the responsibility and guilt when things don’t go according to plan. Childhood prepared you to de-escalate conflict by not rocking the boat and making sure the grown-up’s were never too overwhelmed. You absorbed a lot of emotional reactivity and often thought about how you could of done better. Expression of feeling was dangerous, you were judged as weak or sensitive and told to get over it. You learned to abandoned your needs and work at being accepted. While your accomplishments were occasionally celebrated there was a deep desire to be recognized to prove to yourself that you were enough. At times it felt like you were raising yourself and whether you knew it or not the grown ups in your life had been though a lot and the marks it left on them left marks on you.
