SOMATIC SELF CARE

Self Care seems so simple, take a bath, go on a walk, eat a piece of chocolate, take a nap, breathe and feel better, right? Then why doesn’t it always work? Through lots of practice and reflection I learned self care isn’t a procedure but rather a relationship, an AWARENESS, ATTUNING & ATTENDING to myself. I didn’t always know how to love me but what mattered most was that I started to build relationship.

Maybe we learn to neglect ourselves in life for survival and Somatic Self Care is the repair process to our self neglect. I know you never meant to leave you and it may take some time to reconnect, but you can do it. After all, your personal healing journey needs you the most.

Sometimes you look in the mirror and wonder where you went. Maybe you notice that you’re here but not really present. You can turn on a happy face in a flash only to collapse into isolation when no one is around.

  • Somatic Self Care is the practice of shifting attention away from the needs of the world around you and back to yourself. Somatic Self Care can take many forms such as investing into a hobby or starting an exercise routine. When you work with me, we explore Somatic Self Care through the lens of bridging the gap between the mind and body with movement and breath.

  • Somatic Self Care is a practice of strengthening and investing into self. Healing trauma involves your self energy to do the healing work. While you may feel better, practicing Somatic Self Care it’s not a direct way to address healing trauma but an integral part in supporting the process.

  • Somatic Self Care is taking the time to acknowledge you vast array of internal resources. When we build relationship with ourselves we know how to take care for our own needs. In turn we rely less on external variables (food, alcohol, drugs, sugar, co-dependency) to make us feel better, repairing the mind-body gap.
